Helm of Clear Sight
This magical item is sought after by many people due to its helpful nature. This is especially true for adventuring parties. The Helm of Clear Sight is a magical helm that allows the wearer to see clearly even in the worst of conditions. It can be made to look like any other visored helm of varying sizes. One can not detect if the helm is magical at all by merely looking at it. Only a detect magic spell will determine if it is magical at all, but not its function.
Normally worn by members in heavier armor, such as paladins, dwarves and regular fighters, it functions normally, giving the normal protection of a +1 helm. The difference comes when the wearer places the Helm of Clear Sight upon his or her head and closes the visor. If conditions are such that sight is impeded in any way, such as fog, blizzard, haze, smoke, etc., the helm will allow its subject to see clearly as if none of the impeding conditions exist. They will see things clear and without distortion.
This item even works under similar magical conditions. Thus if a person wearing this helm states they have put the visor down to look at something or see ahead through any rough condition, they could see through even magical darkness as if it didn’t exist at all. That is, if there is anything visible to see through or within it. This also of course depends on if the character wearing the device has infravision or ultra vision. Otherwise they would see only as far as they can with normal sight. In daylight, an individual could see as far as normally possible for the surrounding conditions they are in.This item in no way allows the wearer to see through solid objects such as stone, wood, metal etc.
This item is great for any adventuring party, since it can help keep them alert to threats during their journey. Keep in mind that normal rules for fighting in armor still apply to certain class characters. This item is somewhat rare but several have been found through out the realms.
