Sought after by thieves, this ring is invaluable to them in performing their trade. The ring is made of silver and looks no different than any normal ring. It is highly polished, reflecting light as if it were a mirror with the exception of the top. Upon closer inspection, a beveled indentation can be seen which runs around the exact center of the band making it look as if it were two halves of identical rings put together to make the one. Anyone with the ability to detect magic will notice that it radiates a slight aura around it. Upon even closer inspection, within the beveled edge is a command, written in the language that only a thief can read, "Thieves Cant."

When placed on the finger of anyone but a thief, the ring will do nothing for them. It will, however, shine brightly in sunlight from its highly polish finish and could therefore be used as a signal device if need be. Even if magic is detected on it, it still does nothing, even if the inscription is noticed, it can not be read. But if a thief happens to have the ring, and inspects it closely by stating so, they will notice the writing within the beveled area and be able to read it easily. Once the thief knows the command, and he place it on any finger, the magic of the ring will be at his disposal. Any thief who places a specified item in the ring hand and says the command will within one turn see an exact duplicate of that item in their other hand. This can include items from as small as a sewing needle to as large as what an individual can hold in one hand. The item in either hand has to be suspended in the air without any help in order to be duplicated. Thus a thief can not place their hand on a surface while someone puts a large trunk on it to be duplicated. The individual must be strong enough to hold it on his own. Therefore, a thief of exceptional strength can duplicate items much bigger than one with less strength. Any magic cast upon an individual that enhances their strength will also work, allowing them to duplicate a bigger object. This action may be done as many times as the thief wishes, but only one item per incantation may be duplicated at a time or else the ring will not function.

The duplication produces an exact replica of the original item in every way, including smell, taste, looks, sound and feel, with one exception. The duplicated item if magical will not be magical but will still radiate an aura as if it were, and if it is made of precious metals, gems etc., the duplicated item will be fake, although will seem like the real thing when looked at even under close inspection. Only if an item is physically checked by scraping, cutting, breaking or other means will it be found out to be fake. No living matter may be duplicated. Any thief with this particular item would fight to keep it, and will usually not share its existence with anyone else. It is an extremely rare find.
