Serrated Blade

Serrated Blade
Weapon Enhancement

Master weaponsmiths may craft blades with serrated edges. A serrated blade creates an especially vicious wound, causing the victim to bleed an extra 1 hp for 1d4 rounds per cut (each bleeding wound may be stopped with a successful Heal check at DC 12). Note that creatures that do not bleed are not subject to bleeding wounds, including constructs, undead, ooze, plants, and creatures with weapon immunity, regeneration, fast healing, or wound closure.

A serrated blade is created as a masterwork weapon (granting a +1 bonus to hit) with a 600 gp masterwork component and a DC of 25 (Normal: 300 gp and DC 20 - only 1/3 price is required for raw materials). The masterwork blade will only have half the hardness and hp of a normal blade of its type. This process is standard for swords only. Certain piercing polearms (spears and ranseurs) as well as scythes may be created with a serrated edge with no reduction in weapon hardness or hp. Arrows and bolts may be created with serrated heads that deal an additional 1d2 hp of bleeding damage when removed. Serrated arrows and bolts do not receive the masterwork +1 to hit, cost 3gp each to create (9 gp to purchase) and require a Craft check at DC 20.
