This is the first module in a series, based on Freeport, a city founded by pirates. The adventure is designed for beginning characters of levels 1-3 and is a good start for any campaign.

The beginning of this booklet details the history of Freeport, and provides enough detail to get the flavor of the city. This information can also be used to fit this adventure into a campaign of your own, as it’s designed to be used as such.

The main adventure involves a good amount of investigation for the adventuring group along with the usual fights. A thief character would fit into this module very nicely. What ensues is the group landing in the city of Freeport. Upon arriving they are hired to locate a missing librarian. Sounds somewhat simple, but the plot is rather good, and has enough areas mapped out to keep the players busy for some time. There is even a nice map of the whole city of Freeport.

Artwork in this module is somewhat above average, but nothing to write home about. The only complaint I have about the maps is that they are dark enough so that they may prove difficult to photocopy if the DM wishes to do so. Other than that, the maps provided are detailed and well drawn out.

A good start for any budding campaign or low level characters, Death in Freeport is a good buy for the money. And it is only the start of a growing group of modules and accessories based on the City of Freeport.
